INR 2000 crore has been allocated to the National Digital Health Mission, now known as ABDM

The Chhattisgarh government has allocated over INR 3500 crore for healthcare in its latest state budget of 2026-2027, aimed at strengthening public health systems, expanding medical infrastructure, and improving access to care across the state.

The new announcement was made by Chhattisgarh Finance Minister Om Prakash Choudhary during the presentation of the 2026-2027 budget.

Out of the total allocation, the government has earmarked INR 1500 crore for the Shahid Veer Singh Ayushman Bharat scheme to support the health insurance coverage for eligible beneficiaries.

Additionally, INR 2000 crore has been allocated to the National Digital Health Mission, now known as Ayushman Digital Bharata Mission (ABDM), which seeks to improve the digital health system and expand access to essential services.

The increased funding is expected to support digital-enabled healthcare delivery models, including the scaling of public health programmes and the modernisation of healthcare facilities.

The budget also outlines plans to expand healthcare infrastructure and medical education. The infrastructure upgrades include the development of new district hospital buildings in Ambikapur, Dhamtari, and Chirmiri, alongside the establishment of a 200-bed Maternal and Child Health unit in Raipur.

Further, to improve healthcare access in remote regions, the government has made plans to establish a super-speciality hospital in Jagdalpur and a medical college and medical city in Dantewada.

In addition to this, an allocation of INR 50 crore has also been made to support the development of new medical colleges in Kunkuri, Manendragarh, and Dantewada.

The budget further includes plans to set up specialised healthcare institutions, such as a state-run cancer institute in Bilaspur, an advanced cardiac institute in Raipur, and a physiotherapy college in Rajnandgaon. General Nursing and Midwifery training centers are also planned to support skill development and specialised care services.

In addition, the government has proposed expanding rural healthcare infrastructure through the construction of over 25 Primary Health Centres, Sub-Health Centres, and Community Health Centres. The plan also includes establishing 25 dialysis centers and 50 Jan Aushadhi Kendras to enhance access to treatment and affordable medicines.

Furthermore, the government has allocated INR 25 crore to expand infrastructure at Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital.
