Chhattisgarh Inks MoU with STPI to Boost AI & MedTech Innovation

Chhattisgarh will establish a CoE dedicated to AI, MedTech solutions leveraging forest and medicinal resources and Smart City technologies.

The Government of Chhattisgarh has entered into a strategic partnership with the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) to strengthen its AI and MedTech ecosystem.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the state’s Electronics and Information Technology Department and STPI, an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.

STPI operates 68 centres and 24 sector-focused Centres of Entrepreneurship nationwide, playing a central role in nurturing India’s technology start-up ecosystem, including AI, MedTech, and electronics innovation.

Under the partnership, Chhattisgarh will establish a Centre of Entrepreneurship (CoE) dedicated to Artificial Intelligence, MedTech solutions leveraging forest and medicinal resources and Smart City technologies.

In parallel, an Electronics System Design & Development (ESDD) Center will be set up to support 30 to 40 hardware start-ups and MSMEs annually. The facility will provide product design support, prototyping labs, skill development programs, and capacity-building services.

For MedTech innovators, especially those developing AI-powered diagnostic devices or healthcare hardware, access to prototyping infrastructure is often a major bottleneck. The ESDD facility aims to address this gap within the state.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai described the agreement as a milestone in advancing Chhattisgarh’s technology ecosystem. “This partnership is crucial for nurturing Chhattisgarh’s start-up ecosystem, enabling the youth to access world-class facilities without leaving the state,” he said.

For the digital health sector, the collaboration signals an effort to decentralise AI and MedTech innovation beyond established hubs such as Bengaluru and Hyderabad. By strengthening incubation, mentorship, funding facilitation, and laboratory access through STPI’s national network, the state aims to make advanced AI and MedTech development accessible to local entrepreneurs.

Senior officials present at the signing included Subodh Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary; Ankit Anand, Secretary of Electronics & Information Technology; Ravi Verma, Director, STPI; and Prabhat Malik, CEO of CHiPS.
