Arunachal Pradesh to Strengthen Diagnostic Infrastructure in 427 Healthcare Facilities
The Arunachal Pradesh government has planned to create and upgrade diagnostic infrastructure across 427 healthcare facilities in the state, aimed at strengthening access to essential medical services, particularly in remote areas.
The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu in which the Cabinet gave its nod to the proposal of engaging HLL Lifecare, a central government enterprise, to create diagnostic infrastructure in 256 sub-centers, 82 primary health centers(PHCs), 25 community health centers (CHCs), and 64 block public health units.
The initiative is designed to strengthen the state’s public healthcare system by expanding the availability of basic and advanced diagnostic services at different levels of care, including primary health centres, community health centres, and higher referral facilities.
As a part of the initiative, a Laboratory Management Information System (LMIS) will be introduced across state health facilities, including medical colleges, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, and sub-centers.
The system aims to digitalize supply chain, logistics, and inventory data related to laboratory services.
Reportedly, tele-radiology CT scan services provided through HLL Lifecare in several locations, such as Aalo, Bomdila, Khonsa, Namsai, Tawang, Tezu, Yingkiong, and Ziro, have served nearly 12,000 patients.
Further, Approval was also granted for obtaining Atomic Energy Regulatory Board certification for diagnostic radiology services at key hospitals and CHCs.
In addition to the diagnostic plans, the Cabinet cleared the procurement of 40 mobile medical units (MMUs) to serve 455 villages in remote and border areas under the Vibrant Villages Programme, with operational support from the National Health Mission.
According to the state officials, the initiative is expected to expand access to diagnostic services closer to communities, reduce out-of-pocket expenditure for patients, and support evidence-based medical care.
