AIIMS Jammu to Unveil Global CoE for AI‑Powered Healthcare Innovation
The Center is expected to enable quicker, more accurate, and cost-efficient diagnosis and treatment, strengthen care across key specialties, reduce waiting times through AI-driven triage.
All India Institute of Medical Science, Jammu, has announced plans to establish a Global Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Healthcare.
The initiative follows a high‑level delegation visit in November 2025 from representatives of UK-based Axonic Health and Claidroid Technologies.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on AIIMS Jammu’s existing and planned AI initiatives, including AI‑powered diagnostics, predictive medicine, clinical decision support systems, robotic surgical support, virtual care, and telemedicine.
Further, a virtual demonstration was also held showcasing a range of AI-driven tools and workflows under consideration.
Moreover, the proposed Center is expected to bring several benefits, such as faster, more accurate, and cost‑effective diagnosis and treatment; strengthen care delivery in key areas such as oncology, neurology, cardiology, and emergency medicine; reduce waiting times through AI‑based patient triaging; and enhance access to medical services for remote and underserved regions.
Additionally, the CoE will also function as a global training and certification hub for doctors, nurses, technicians, and researchers, designed to empower healthcare professionals with internationally benchmarked AI‑based skills.
Commenting on the significance of the CoE, Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director of AIIMS Jammu, said, “This Global Center will transform healthcare delivery by focusing on predictive, preventive, and precision-driven care. It will benefit patients, clinicians, and the wider healthcare ecosystem in India and beyond.”
