ACTREC, TMC Partners with Philips to Strengthen Early Cancer Detection with Spectral CT
The Spectral CT 7500 is an advanced imaging platform developed by Philips and is designed to capture detailed spectral information during routine CT scans.
Advanced Center for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), a key unit of the Tata Memorial Center, in collaboration with Global health technology company Philips, has introduced the next-generation Spectral CT 7500 Imaging system aimed at improving early cancer detection and diagnostic precision in India.
The collaboration seeks to integrate advanced imaging technology designed to support clinicians in identifying complex diseases earlier and making more informed treatment decisions.
The Spectral CT 7500 is an advanced imaging platform designed to capture detailed spectral information during routine CT scans without increasing radiation exposure.
By obtaining deeper insights from a single scan, the technology is expected reduce the need for repeat imaging as well as shorten the diagnostic timelines for patients.
Additionally, the system can conduct comprehensive full-body scans in approximately two seconds, enabling clinicians to gather detailed diagnostic information during standard examinations, potentially improving workflow efficiency.
Furthermore, the introduction of Spectral CT is expected support multiple clinical specialties, including oncology, cardiology, neurology, and emergency care, areas where rapid and confident assessment is critical to improving outcomes.
Commenting on the new partnership, Bharath Sesha, Managing Director, Philips Indian Subcontinent, said, “Our collaboration with Tata Memorial Cancer Center demonstrates how technology can support clinicians in making faster, more accurate decisions, while enhancing patient safety and workflow efficiency. By embedding Spectral CT into routine practice, we aim to help healthcare teams reduce delays, minimise unnecessary scans, and improve access to timely diagnosis, supporting India’s broader goal of strengthening diagnostic infrastructure and improving outcomes.”
Sharing his views, Dr. Pankaj Chaturvedi, Director, ACTREC, Tata Memorial Center, said, “Accurate and timely diagnosis is the cornerstone of effective cancer care. The commissioning of advanced Spectral CT at ACTREC reflects our commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology into clinical practice for the direct benefit of our patients. By enabling deeper diagnostic insights from a single scan while improving efficiency, this platform will help clinicians make faster, more informed treatment decisions. We dedicate this technology to the service of our patients and reaffirm our mission to advance cancer care through innovation that is precise, compassionate, and future-ready.”
