Sukhu Orders Expansion of Online Health Facilities Across Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh’s health infrastructure is being strengthened with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which is assisting the state in upgrading healthcare facilities and service delivery.
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has directed officials to integrate a wide range of online health facilities into the state’s healthcare system, aiming to improve accessibility, transparency, and efficiency while strengthening service delivery across hospitals and medical institutions.
The directive follows a review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister with senior officers of the Health Department, the National Health Mission, and the Directorate of Medical Education.
During the meeting, Sukhu announced the formation of a dedicated committee to prepare a roadmap for online health integration. The committee will be chaired by Health and Family Welfare Minister Colonel Dhani Ram Shandil (retd) and has been asked to submit its report within ten days, underlining the urgency of the digital push.
Emphasising the importance of the Himcare Scheme, the Chief Minister said that beneficiary mapping should be ensured up to the panchayat level, with comprehensive digital records of patients’ treatments maintained through online health platforms.
A key component of the plan involves integrating the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) card with the Him Parivar portal.
According to Sukhu, this linkage will strengthen transparency and accountability while enabling better monitoring of services, online record maintenance, and more effective grievance redressal mechanisms.
The Chief Minister said that online health services would promote innovation and contribute to the broader goal of building healthy citizens and a strong state.
He also noted that Himachal Pradesh’s health infrastructure is being strengthened with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which is assisting the state in upgrading healthcare facilities and service delivery.
Earlier in the day, Sukhu launched the official website of the State Allied and Health Care Council, Himachal Pradesh, http://www.sahchp.in, describing it as an important step towards digital governance.
The website is expected to serve as a user-friendly online health resource for professionals, institutions, students, and the public.
