Siemens Healthineers & Saudi Ministry of Health Launch “SHIFT” Innovation Center in Riyadh

The Riyadh SHIFT Innovation Center will act as a collaborative hub, bringing together government bodies, universities, hospitals, and startups to co-create scalable, technology-driven healthcare solutions.

The Saudi Ministry of Health (MoH) and Siemens Healthineers have inaugurated the “SHIFT Innovation Center” in Riyadh.

The move aims to accelerate healthcare transformation through innovation, collaboration, and capacity building.

The center is part of Siemens Healthineers’ global SHIFT ecosystem, joining other hubs in Erlangen, Bengaluru, Shanghai, Istanbul, and Madrid.

Its mission is to localize and adapt healthcare innovations, support strategic partnerships, and enable scalable solutions for regional demand.

Commenting on the initiative. Björn Bodenstein, Managing Director of Siemens Healthineers Saudi Arabia, said, “With the launch of the SHIFT Innovation Centre in Riyadh, we are creating an ecosystem where innovation meets collaboration. Together with the Ministry of Health, we aim to empower healthcare professionals, nurture local talent, and accelerate solutions that address both current and future challenges.

The Riyadh SHIFT Innovation Center is expected to act as a collaborative hub, bringing together government bodies, universities, hospitals, and startups to co-create scalable, technology-driven healthcare solutions.

By fostering joint projects and open innovation, the center aims to address real-world healthcare challenges, such as improving patient outcomes and boosting operational efficiency.

The center is built upon three core pillars, such as innovation infrastructure, providing access to advanced technologies and AI models; a technology accelerator validating and scaling healthtech solutions; and capacity-building programmes, including training, workshops, and hackathons for healthcare workforce development.

The inauguration also highlighted the Digi X-Lab facility housed within the SHIFT Centre, which allows researchers and clinicians to use AI and data analytics to convert medical data into scientific insights and support clinical research.

The establishment of this center aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 and the Health Sector Transformation Program, which aims to advance the healthcare ecosystem through innovation, knowledge transfer, and sustainable growth.
