SGPGIMS Governing Body to Prioritize AI Integration in Healthcare Services

The institute plans to deploy AI across major sectors, including diagnostics, clinical decision support, telemedicine, and hospital operations

The governing body of the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) has decided to place a stronger focus on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, aimed at enhancing clinical services, operational efficiency, and patient care delivery.

As part of the initiative, the institute plans to deploy AI across major sectors, including diagnostics, clinical decision support, telemedicine, and hospital operations.

The governing body also approved a major project, including the establishment of a specialised health care center which is expected to provide specialized treatment supported by translational research, digital innovation, and patient-centric care for complex and life-threatening medical conditions.

Further to address the shortage of medical specialists, SGPGIMS will reportedly develop a statewide medical college network offering round-the-clock tele-healthcare services, multi-speciality digital consultations, and rapid emergency response through advanced digital healthcare platforms.

According to reports, the state government has approved SGPGIMS-led initiatives in artificial intelligence and healthcare under the National AI Mission.

The projects align with UP’s vision to position Lucknow as India’s first “AI City,” supporting the adoption of AI-assisted and AI-enabled healthcare reforms.
