OMRON Healthcare Announces Global ECG Strategy to Advance Cardiac Care

Key initiatives include additional investment in Tricog Health India and the planned acquisition of the Heartnote ECG service business from JSR Corporation to enhance early detection and prevention of heart failure.

Japan-based medtech company OMRON Healthcare has unveiled a new global strategy focused on expanding its electrocardiogram (ECG) services.

The initiative aims to strengthen cardiac monitoring and diagnostic capabilities across home and clinical settings as part of its broader “Going for ZERO” vision, which seeks to reduce adverse cerebrovascular and cardiovascular events through early detection and prevention.

Commenting on the expansion initiative, Ayumu Okada, President and CEO, OMRON Healthcare, said, "Confronting the heart failure 'pandemic' and the shortage of cardiovascular specialists requires new approaches. By combining innovative technology with strategic partnerships, we aim to take our cardiovascular business to the next stage and help prevent serious cardiac events before they occur."

As per the expansion strategy, various key initiatives include additional investment in Tricog Health India, an AI-driven cardiac technology company, as well as the planned acquisition of the Heartnote ECG service business from JSR Corporation to enhance early detection and prevention of heart failure.

The Heartnote is a Holter ECG device equipped with a thin, lightweight, cordless wearable patch that can continuously record heart activity for up to seven days and is specifically designed for Japan’s aging population.

The device aims to reduce patient discomfort as well as to enhance the detection of infrequent arrhythmias.

Its rental-based model, combined with analytics support, also seeks to ease the workload on medical institutions.

Further, the company plans to integrate its ECG-enabled blood pressure monitors with Tricog’s AI-powered InstaECG platform to support remote monitoring services such as KeeboHealth, which is expected to facilitate early intervention for patients at risk of heart failure.

Commenting on the new partnership, Dr. Charit Bhograj, CEO, Tricog Health India, said, "AI-powered early diagnosis and appropriate management can prevent a significant proportion of deaths from heart disease. By integrating OMRON Healthcare's devices with our platform, we can extend advanced cardiac care from hospitals into patients' homes, helping to close critical gaps in access to timely diagnosis and treatment.”

Currently, the company provides its products and services in more than 130 countries and has sold more than 400 million blood pressure monitors globally to date.
