Nadda Meets Russian Health Minister Murashko to Boost  India-Russia Healthcare Partnership

Both Ministers discussed key healthcare issues and reaffirmed the accessibility and boost public healthcare.

India’s Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, has recently met with Mikhail Murashko, the Health Minister of the Russian Federation, to discuss opportunities to strengthen healthcare ties between the two countries through bilateral agreements.

The meeting took place in New Delhi as part of the official engagement of Vladimir Putin’s visit to India.

Both Ministers discussed key healthcare issues and reaffirmed the accessibility and boost of public healthcare.

Sharing the insights regarding the meeting, Union Health Minister Nadda said, “Met Mr. Mikhail Murashko, Hon’ble Health Minister of Russian Federation today. Discussed various health sector-related issues and agreed to enhance bilateral collaboration and partnership in health sector.”

“Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing a shared vision of accessibility to affordable and quality healthcare,” he further added.

As per reports, the partnership is aimed at broader efforts of India and Russia to expand cooperation beyond traditional areas such as defence and trade, into other sectors, including public health, potentially paving the way for joint initiatives, medical technology exchange, pharmaceutical cooperation, and improved access to healthcare services.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in India for a two-day state visit to India. He will hold the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi today.

This marks Putin's first visit to India since the start of the Ukraine war. During the visit, India and Russia are set to sign multiple agreements to boost cooperation in areas including healthcare and trade.

Further, ten intergovernmental documents and more than 15 agreements and memorandums between commercial and non-commercial entities of the two countries are expected to be finalized during the visit of the Russian President, which includes healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and other sectors.
