Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, in a recent event, has asserted that the MedTech sector is now the key pillar of health transformation in India.

While underlining the scope of the sector, he said, “The sector has a broad scope, encompassing diagnostics, advanced devices, digital health, and AI-driven solutions, all contributing to making healthcare more accessible, efficient, and affordable for every citizen.”

“The sector has become a trusted provider of high-quality healthcare, supported by government focus on access, innovation, and infrastructure development”, he added.

According to the Health Minister, the MedTech sector aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

His address was followed by Union Minister Anupriya Patel, who highlighted government initiatives to boost India’s MedTech sector, including support for manufacturing, infrastructure, and clinical studies, alongside investor-friendly policies like 100% FDI and the National Medical Devices Promotion Council.

“India is emerging as not only a high-volume manufacturer but also a high-value player in the global MedTech market. The next leap will come from collaborations, and I invite all stakeholders to join India in co-creating solutions that will serve both our 1.4 billion citizens and the broader healthcare needs of emerging markets,” Patel added.

Further, Dr. Vinod K. Paul, member of NITI Aayog, highlighted government measures to boost innovation, R&D, affordability, and domestic manufacturing in the medical devices sector, including the National Medical Devices Policy 2023, R&D policies, Medical Devices Parks, the PLI scheme, and PRIP (BRICS).
