Manipal Hospitals Eyes Acquisitions Across Key Markets, Expands AI-Led Healthcare Strategy

Manipal Hospitals has been evaluating acquisitions and expansion opportunities across Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana and other key markets as it strengthens its AI-led healthcare strategy and targets the addition of more than 2,400 beds by 2030.

The expansion forms part of Manipal Health Enterprises' broader shift towards a "physical plus digital" healthcare model, combining hospital infrastructure with Artificial Intelligence, connected technology platforms and digitally enabled patient services.

The company has outlined its plans in its FY26 annual report following a period of rapid network expansion through both acquisitions and organic growth.

Manipal Hospitals said it is selectively assessing strategic opportunities in Telangana, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

It is also continuing to explore inorganic growth across Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa, including the Mumbai-Pune economic corridor, as well as Eastern India, covering West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Sikkim.

A major part of its infrastructure pipeline is a greenfield hospital project in Juhu, Mumbai.

The group recently acquired the remaining land and building for the project for a total consideration of INR 495 Cr, with INR 130 Cr payable subject to certain conditions.

"The next phase of Manipal Hospitals' journey will be defined not only by the capacity we add, but by how effectively we harness the collective strengths of our people, clinical expertise, technology platforms and integrated network," said Dilip Jose, Managing Director and CEO.

Manipal Hospitals is rolling out a unified Hospital Information System to connect clinical, diagnostic, and administrative workflows.

Its investments in AI-led healthcare include AI-enabled nursing handovers, currently launched across 24 hospitals, and wireless patient monitoring platforms.

The group is also automating call centre operations through AI-driven chat, voice and omnichannel assistants to support patient triage, enquiries and appointment management.

The hospital chain aims to add around 2,426 licensed beds by 2030, including 483 brownfield and 1,943 greenfield beds.

As of March 31, 2026, Manipal Hospitals operated 49 hospitals with 13,037 licensed beds across 14 states and Union Territories and served more than 76 lakh patients during FY26.

The company has added over 5,500 beds since FY21, supported by recent acquisitions including Sahyadri Hospitals in Maharashtra and Medica Synergie in Eastern India.
