Telangana Targets $25 Bn Investment to Become India’s Life Sciences Innovation Hub by 2030
Telangana is also seeking to strengthen the integration of deep technology, leveraging AI, data science, and advanced technologies to accelerate research, innovation, and sustainable manufacturing.
Telangana has outlined a vision to attract $25 billion in investments in the life sciences sector over the next five years, aimed at strengthening its position as a hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing, research, technology-led innovation, and global regulatory excellence.
Sarvesh Singh, CEO, Lifesciences & Pharma, Government of Telangana, outlined the state’s vision to move up the life sciences value chain, building on its position as a pharmaceutical manufacturing powerhouse and global vaccine hub.
He said, “Our focus is on moving up the value chain, from generics and APIs to biologics, biosimilars, cell and gene therapies, and other cutting-edge areas where biology, chemistry and technology converge.”
Highlighting the state’s innovation ecosystem, Singh noted, “Telangana has more than 20 dedicated life sciences incubators supporting over 1,000 startups, alongside research capabilities, global capability centres, manufacturing infrastructure and a deep talent pool.”
Commenting on the investment opportunity, Singh said, “Through our Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026-2030, we aim to attract $25 billion in investments and create more than 5 lakh jobs over the next five years.”
According to officials, Telangana is also seeking to strengthen the integration of deep technology, leveraging AI, data science and advanced technologies to accelerate research, innovation and sustainable manufacturing.
“We are strengthening global partnerships across the US, Europe, Japan, South Korea and China, while creating an environment that enables global companies, research institutions and startups to collaborate and scale,” Singh noted.
Under the ongoing initiative, Singh said, “Our Green Skills Centre of Excellence, established in collaboration with Microsoft and 1M1B, is another important step, using AI and deep tech to address real-world sustainability and ESG challenges while building future-ready skills."
The latest development is built on the state’s effort to transform Telangana into a global life science innovation hub.
In a recent development, Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu unveiled India’s first integrated oncology manufacturing facility, established by Ciro Pharma with an investment of INR 800 crore at Biotech Park Phase-III in Karakapatla, Markook Mandal, Siddipet district.
The facility adds to Telangana’s growing pharmaceutical manufacturing base and is aimed at supporting the state’s broader objective of developing capabilities in higher-value and specialised segments of the life sciences industry.
