Manipal Hospitals Deploys Harrison.ai’s Chest X‑Ray AI to Enhance Patient Care

The AI‑powered chest X‑ray (CXR) and reporting solution is designed to assist radiologists by triaging studies, pinpointing and localizing abnormalities, and generating AI‑assisted draft reports.

Manipal Hospitals, one of India’s largest integrated healthcare networks, has partnered with Australian medtech firm Harrison.ai to deploy an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) solution for chest X‑ray interpretation across its radiology departments.

The move aims to enhance diagnostic turnaround times, improve report quality, and ultimately elevate patient outcomes at scale.

The AI‑powered chest X‑ray (CXR) and reporting solution is designed to assist radiologists by triaging studies, pinpointing and localizing abnormalities, and generating AI‑assisted draft reports.

The AI-generated reports are further validated and reviewed by Radiologists which enables them to maintain clinical oversight and support workflow.

Commenting on the new rollout, Sudarshan Rawat, HOD & Consultant, Radiology, Manipal Hospital, said, "This deployment is aimed at making chest X-ray reporting more efficient while maintaining the highest standards of quality. AI-assisted reporting functions as a second reader, making sure even the most subtle findings are not missed, while helping us deliver timely reports to patients."

"Turnaround time and report quality are critical metrics for any large radiology operation. By introducing AI-assisted draft reporting into our workflow, we are strengthening our ability to deliver timely, high-quality diagnostic outcomes at scale," he added.

Currently, the hospital network operates around 49 hospitals in 24 cities and more than 12,600 beds serving nearly 8 million patients annually, where chest xrays consumes more 50% of of their total imaging volumes, coming from Outpatient (Emergency), Health Checks, and ICU departments. The initiative is expected to support clinicians in managing workload and improving patient outcomes and experience.
