KIMS ICON Launches Neuro Lab in Vizag for Advanced Neurological Tests Under One Roof

The new Neuro Lab has brought together several specialised neurological diagnostic services, with round-the-clock availability for routine and emergency evaluations.

KIMS ICON Hospital has launched a comprehensive Neuro Lab in Visakhapatnam, offering advanced neurological tests under one roof, aiming to support faster diagnosis and timely treatment for patients in Visakhapatnam and neighbouring regions.

The new Neuro Lab at KIMS ICON has brought several specialised neurological diagnostic services together at a single location, with round-the-clock availability for routine and emergency evaluations.

KIMS ICON Managing Director Dr Satish Kumar Patakam Setty said the hospital was focused on delivering neurological services in line with international standards. “Until now, patients from Visakhapatnam requiring certain specialised neurological investigations had to travel to cities such as Hyderabad and Bengaluru. With the new facility, neuro-diagnostic services will be available round the clock, including during emergencies,” he said.

The facility was inaugurated by Dr Y Jawahar, former Medical Officer of the Indian Navy and International Red Cross Ship.

The Neuro Lab is equipped to perform a range of advanced neurological tests, including Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), Visual Evoked Potential (VEP), Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential (BAEP), Somatosensory Evoked Potential (SEP), Electromyography (EMG), Video EEG and Transcranial Doppler (TCD).

“With the increasing number of brain stroke cases being seen in Visakhapatnam, rapid diagnosis and timely treatment have become particularly important. In emergencies such as stroke, every minute is critical. Having the required neurological investigations readily available can help clinicians make faster treatment decisions,” Consultant Neurologist Dr CH Vijay said.

Hospital officials said the round-the-clock Neuro Lab would be particularly useful during neurological emergencies and would improve access to specialised diagnostic care for patients across Visakhapatnam and North Andhra.
