AIG Hospitals to Invest INR 2,000 Cr in 1,000-Bed Vizag Greenfield Project

The project will be developed in two phases over five years, with the first 650 beds expected to become operational by October 2028.

Hyderabad-based AIG Hospitals has announced an INR 2,000 Cr investment to build a 1,000-bed greenfield multispeciality hospital in Endada, Visakhapatnam.

The project will be developed in two phases over five years, with the first 650 beds expected to become operational by October 2028.

The new facility is being positioned not only as a hospital but as an integrated centre combining patient care, training, research and technology.

The foundation stone for the 1,000-bed Vizag project was laid on Monday by Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh and AIG Hospitals Chairman D Nageshwar Reddy.

The INR 2,000 Cr project is expected to generate employment for around 9,000 people once fully operational, including opportunities for doctors, nurses, paramedics, technical personnel, and administrative and support staff.

This project will not only provide world-class healthcare but also strengthen Visakhapatnam as a major healthcare destination, while creating new opportunities for doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals. We welcome AIG Hospitals to Visakhapatnam and look forward to its contribution to the city’s growth," said the IT Minister.

The first phase will include 650 beds, while the second phase will add another 350 beds to reach the planned 1,000-bed capacity.

AIG Hospitals expects the completed facility to have around 1,000 doctors on its rolls.

The nine-acre campus will include more than clinical infrastructure. Plans include a nursing college, paramedic training centre, research laboratory, AI centre and academic block, creating a combined healthcare, education and research ecosystem.

This could also support the development and adoption of technology-led healthcare services in the region.

The hospital is planned to offer more than 50 medical and surgical specialties. Its infrastructure will include modular operating rooms, catheterisation laboratories, endoscopy suites, 150 critical care beds and a 50-bed emergency department.

The outpatient facility is designed to accommodate approximately 5,000 consultations each day.

AIG Hospitals Vice-Chairman P V S Raju said the scale of the project would generate employment at multiple levels, while the nursing college and paramedic training centre would create a sustained pipeline of trained healthcare professionals for the region.
