KGMU Lucknow Adopts Advanced Coroventis System to Enhance Cardiovascular Treatment

The Coroventis System seeks to support clinicians in detecting abnormalities in smaller blood vessels by leveraging specialised diagnostic wires enabling precise evaluation of microvascular function.

King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow has introduced the Coroventis System, an advanced diagnostic technology designed to detect fatal heart diseases.

The device is designed to detect patients suffering from Ischemia with Non-Obstructive Coronary Arteries (INOCA).

INOCA is a cardiac condition caused by spasms or blockages in small heart vessels, which can lead to chest pain despite the absence of major arterial blockages visible during angiography.

Doctors at KGMU noted that around 150 to 200 patients with this condition visit the hospital each month, highlighting the need for more precise diagnostic tools.

The Coroventis System seeks to support clinicians in detecting abnormalities in smaller blood vessels by leveraging specialised diagnostic wires enabling precise evaluation of microvascular function.

This approach supports targeted medical treatment rather than invasive procedures such as angioplasty and stenting, which are typically used for larger artery blockages.

This approach is expected to allow doctors to better understand microvascular function and provide appropriate treatment.

The new technology is expected to improve treatment outcomes by enabling accurate identification of vessel spasms and blockages, followed by appropriate medication-based therapy.

The system also assists in evaluating blood flow recovery in patients following heart attacks, supporting more informed clinical decision-making.

As per reports, KGMU has become the first institution in Uttar Pradesh to introduce this system, strengthening its capabilities in advanced cardiac care.

The adoption of new technology is followed by the installation of an AI-enabled CT scanner in KGMU, aimed at accelerating patient diagnosis and strengthening emergency care.

Currently, the device is available at only a limited number of medical centers in India.
