Gujarat to Set Up a Medical Device Park in Rajkot
The initiative is designed to support the entire value chain of medical device development from research and testing to manufacturing and global export within a single integrated hub.
The Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has announced plans to establish a 336-acre sector-specific Medical Device Park at Nagalpar in the Rajkot district, aimed at creating a comprehensive ecosystem for the medical technology industry.
The initiative is designed to support the entire value chain of medical device development from research and testing to manufacturing and global export within a single integrated hub.
The park is intended to provide ready-to-use industrial infrastructure to support manufacturing operations and follows its earlier proposal to establish an INR 250 Crore Medical Device Park announced in 2024.
The proposed facilities include plug-and-play units, a water supply system, dedicated solid waste management and sewage treatment infrastructure, and provisions for power infrastructure supported by a proposed 66 kV substation.
Further, a common warehouse and logistics center is also expected to support operational requirements.
The park is located at Nagalpar, near key maritime ports such as Pipavav (125 km), Kandla (198 km), and Mundra (243 km), while Rajkot Airport, which offers direct domestic links to major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. The park is also just 9 km from National Highway-27, which is expected to facilitate efficient transport across India.
As per reports, the announcement comes ahead of the Regional Conference scheduled to be held in Rajkot in January 2026. The conference is expected to serve as a key platform to attract domestic and global investors to the new medical device ecosystem.
