GE HealthCare & Indonesia Collaborate to Deploy Advanced CT Scanners Nationwide
As per the agreement, GE Healthcare will supply more than 300 CT scanners to public hospitals nationwide
Chicago-based medtech company, GE HealthCare, and Indonesia’s Ministry of Health have announced a multi-year collaboration to expand access to advanced medical imaging across the country.
As per the agreement, the medtech company will supply more than 300 computed tomography (CT) scanners to public hospitals nationwide.
Under the initiative, which is part of the Strengthening Indonesia’s Health Referral Network (SIHREN) program, the advanced CT scanners will be installed in public healthcare facilities across all 38 provinces, including both urban centers and remote regions.
The deployment is expected to be completed by 2028 and is intended to support early diagnosis and treatment of a range of health conditions, including non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, stroke, and cancer.
As per reports, the company in 2024, GE HealthCare established the Regional Innovation & Training Experience (RITE) Hub in Jakarta.
The center was designed to provide Indonesian healthcare professionals with hands-on training on advanced imaging technologies, including MR and CT systems, and aimed at initiating collaboration with leading educational institutions to deliver programs covering device operation and clinical pathways.
Further, earlier this year, the company secured a tender to supply ten 1.5T MR systems to public hospitals. These systems support high-resolution imaging for early diagnosis and ongoing monitoring of conditions such as cancer, stroke, and cardiovascular disease, contributing to non-communicable disease management.
Recently, the company, to further strengthen its local footprint, has inaugurated a production facility in Bogor, in collaboration with PT Kalbe Farma’s subsidiary, Forsta, aimed at strengthening supply chain resilience within Indonesia.
Reflecting his thoughts on the new initiative, Elie Chaillot, president and CEO, International at GE HealthCare. “Our ongoing investments in local manufacturing, capacity building, and training reflect our commitment to contribute to Indonesia’s healthcare resilience and drive local economic growth. Equally important, this initiative helps ensure that advanced diagnostic technologies reach rural and remote communities, promoting healthcare equity and bringing life-saving care closer to every Indonesian.”
