Fischer Medical & Dr Iype Cherian Join Forces to Develop AI-Enabled Portable MRI System

The system will integrate AR, AI, ML, and Exoscope technologies to provide surgeons with real-time visualisation and enhanced precision.

Chennai-based Time Medical International, a subsidiary of the leading medtech company in India, Fischer Medical Ventures, has announced a collaboration with eminent neurosurgeon Dr Iype Cherian to co-develop DRIS–iMRI Medharanya, an advanced, portable MRI system.

The system will integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), and Machine Learning (ML) technologies, as well as Exoscope technology, and is designed to support neurosurgical applications by providing surgeons with real-time visualisation, enabling unprecedented precision and safety.

The AI-powered MRI system will also combine with the Extradural Parasigmoid approach to the Jugular Foramen (Ex Pa JuF), an advanced neurosurgical technique used to treat complex glomus tumours. This integration is intended to enhance surgical safety and improve anatomical visualisation in challenging skull-base procedures.

According to the partnership, Dr. Iype Cherian will assume the position of Director of Neurosciences at Time Medical India and will oversee clinical strategy, guide neuroimaging development, and drive the translational roadmap for the DRIS–iMRI Medharanya platform.
