Aster DM Healthcare Increases Stake in Aster Ramesh Hospitals to 70.49%

The transaction raises Aster DM’s total shareholding from 57.49% to 70.49%, reinforcing its strategic presence in Andhra Pradesh.

Aster DM Healthcare has increased its ownership in Dr. Ramesh Cardiac and Multispeciality Hospital, known as Aster Ramesh Hospitals, by acquiring an additional 13% stake.

The transaction raises Aster DM’s total shareholding from 57.49% to 70.49%, reinforcing its strategic presence in Andhra Pradesh.

This strengthens Aster DM’s operational control and supports its goal of building a robust healthcare infrastructure in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

The acquisition was completed for ₹63.01 crore, funded entirely through internal accruals. The promoter group of Aster Ramesh Hospitals exercised a put option as per the shareholder agreement, enabling Aster DM to purchase the additional equity.

Reportedly, there will be no changes to the board composition or the management structure following the transaction.

Aster Ramesh Hospitals operates five hospitals across Andhra Pradesh with a combined capacity of 739 beds. The group plans to expand its Ongole unit by adding 75 beds, expected to be operational by the second or third quarter of FY26. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to increase capacity and enhance specialty services in the region.

The move aligns with Aster DM Healthcare’s long-term plan to strengthen its footprint in South India. The company aims to add 1,000 beds across Andhra Pradesh over the next few years.

Planned service enhancements include cardio-oncology, robotic surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and AI-driven diagnostics. Aster Ramesh Hospitals will also integrate its operations with Aster’s digital platform, Cloud Docs Ramesh Central Command Station, to connect over 2,000 consultants across the network.

Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, stated that the increased stake reflects the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare in underserved regions.

He emphasized the importance of Andhra Pradesh in Aster’s growth strategy and reaffirmed the company’s focus on clinical excellence and patient-centric care.

Aster DM Healthcare’s investment comes shortly after its merger with Quality Care India Ltd, backed by Blackstone.
