Army Hospital in Delhi Performs India’s 1ST 3D Flex Aqueous Angiography with iStent

This setup allows surgeons to visualize aqueous outflow pathways in real time, enabling more precise placement of the iStent during minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.

The Army Hospital (Research & Referral) in Delhi Cantt has announced the successful conduct of India’s first 3D Flex Aqueous Angiography combined with the use of an iStent for glaucoma treatment.

The procedure was carried out by the hospital’s Ophthalmology Department using a stand‑mounted Spectralis system integrated with a 3D operating microscope.

This setup allows surgeons to visualize aqueous outflow pathways in real time, enabling more precise placement of the iStent during minimally invasive glaucoma surgery.

This intraoperative visualization is anticipated to enhance surgical precision and contribute to improved patient outcomes.

The hospital noted that the procedure is part of ongoing efforts to integrate advanced imaging techniques into routine clinical practice.

According to the officials, this development represents the first reported use of 3D Flex Aqueous Angiography with iStent in India, marking a new step in the application of imaging-guided surgical interventions for eye care

Earlier this year, the Army Hospital (Research & Referral) in Delhi Cantonment had achieved another significant milestone by performing India’s “first-ever” Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) implantation using the advanced HeartMate 3 device at a government institution.
