APA Launches Digital Resource Library for Trusted Mental Health Tools
Called the APA Labs Digital Badge Solutions Library, the platform is a searchable collection of apps and digital resources that have received the organization’s Digital Badge after evaluation.
The American Psychological Association (APA) has launched a digital health resource library aimed at helping users identify trusted mental health tools and technologies.
Called the APA Labs Digital Badge Solutions Library, the platform is a searchable collection of apps and digital resources that have received the organization’s Digital Badge after evaluation. The library includes tools across behavioral health, clinical support, family and pediatric care, as well as sleep, relaxation, and mindfulness.
At launch, the platform includes six tools, with additional products currently under evaluation, according to APA Labs Managing Director Tanya Carlson. She said the library will expand as more companies complete the organization’s review process.
Carlson noted that the evaluation framework is designed to go beyond document-based review. It includes hands-on assessments conducted by independent digital health evaluators, in consultation with licensed psychologists, data privacy experts, and health technology engineers. Final reviews are carried out by APA experts in psychological science.
The Digital Badge program, launched in August 2025, assesses digital mental health products based on clinical alignment, regulatory compliance, and data privacy standards. The initiative aims to provide a structured reference point in an expanding digital mental health market.
Current tools in the library include Calm Health, Calm: Sleep and Meditation, Kai.ai, StarStarter for Anxiety, PepperChat, and BrightCanary Parental Controls.
Commenting on the launch, Calm’s Chief Clinical Officer Chris Mosunic said the growing number of digital mental health solutions can be difficult for users to navigate. He added that the Digital Badge framework offers a structured approach focused on safety, ethics, and evidence-based practice.
The APA stated that the library is designed to help users make more informed choices by offering access to independently reviewed mental health technologies.
