Andhra Pradesh Expands Preventive Care with 47-Test Health Scheme via Mobile Units
The diagnostic data will be systematically recorded as electronic health records under the Sanjeevani initiative to create a unified health monitoring framework.
Andhra Pradesh has introduced a new Health Scheme that will deliver 47 Medical Tests to citizens through mobile medical units, aiming to improve early disease detection, expand rural healthcare access, and build electronic health records under the Sanjeevani initiative.
The newly approved scheme is expected to cover nearly 57 lakh individuals annually, supported by a budget of INR 163 Cr. It is designed to move healthcare closer to communities by deploying mobile units equipped with upgraded diagnostic tools.
These units, which previously handled only basic screenings, will now include semi-automatic biochemistry analyzers and complete blood count systems, enabling a broader spectrum of tests such as liver function, kidney function, and lipid profile assessments.
Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav confirmed that the scheme reflects a broader commitment made by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to reinforce public healthcare infrastructure.
By increasing the diagnostic capacity at the grassroots level, the government aims to detect health conditions earlier, reducing the burden on tertiary care facilities and lowering long-term treatment costs.
Each mobile unit is expected to screen around 20 individuals per day, creating a steady pipeline of diagnostic data. This data will be systematically recorded as electronic health records, allowing healthcare providers to track patient histories over time and offer more personalized medical advice.
The integration of these records into the Sanjeevani initiative is intended to create a unified health monitoring framework, improving continuity of care and enabling data-driven decision-making.
Officials have been directed to complete operational preparations within the next two months.
