CM Naidu Greenlights INR 162 Cr for 900+ Mobile Units; Sanjeevani Sees 3.1 Lakh Registrations
In a recent review of the Sanjeevani project, Naidu instructed officials to broaden its implementation throughout the state by July.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has allocated ₹162 crore for the deployment of over 900 mobile medical units as part of the state's comprehensive public health initiative.
This significant investment is aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility and outreach across Andhra Pradesh.
Reports indicate that more than 3.1 lakh individuals have already registered under the Sanjeevani Digital Nerve Centre database, which is designed to facilitate better health management and tracking.
In a recent review of the Sanjeevani project, Naidu instructed officials to broaden its implementation throughout the state by July.
Currently, the initiative is operational in Kuppam and Naravaripalle. As part of the efforts to bolster public health, the Chief Minister announced that village meetings, health camps, and awareness programs will be organized every fourth Saturday under the “Swarna (Golden) Andhra Population Management” initiative.
These efforts are part of the broader ‘Swarna Andhra Population Management’ and Sanjeevani initiatives, which focus on expanding preventive healthcare, enhancing last-mile access through mobile units, and establishing a statewide digital health registry to support data-driven care delivery.
Additionally, the government intends to develop an ‘AP Health Management Policy’ centered on five pillars: maternity, strength, skill, welfare, and Sanjeevani, with the goal of improving healthcare delivery.
Highlighting the importance of community involvement, Naidu emphasized that public health should be treated as a movement. He urged Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), collectors, and medical officials to engage with local communities starting in April to promote awareness and preventive health measures.
The Chief Minister has set an ambitious target of conducting medical tests for over 5.6 million people within a year and requested that officials share test results with beneficiaries via WhatsApp within 48 hours.
In his commitment to preventive healthcare, Naidu stressed the need for regular updates of personal health records and underscored the benefits of incorporating yoga, nutrition, meditation, and pranayama into daily routines to reduce future medical expenses.
He also directed officials to evaluate improvements in public health indicators in Chittoor district, where the Sanjeevani project is currently being implemented.
During discussions on the proposed Universal Health Policy under the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust, officials noted significant interest from various insurance companies in partnering with the program.
Naidu also discussed the establishment of medical colleges through a public-private partnership (PPP) model and emphasized the necessity of filling vacancies within the health department through rationalization.
Moreover, he urged the integration of pharmacy networks and laboratories and specified that caesarean deliveries should only be conducted when medically necessary. To ensure compliance, audits will be carried out if the rate of caesarean deliveries exceeds 20 per cent.
