AIIMS Raipur, Bilaspur Super-Specialty Hospital Partner to Expand Telemedicine Service in Chhattisgarh
The MoU is significant for Chhattisgarh, where super-specialty services are limited and patients often travel to metropolitan centres for advanced treatment.
AIIMS Raipur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kumar Sahab Swargavasi Dilip Singh Judeo Government Super-Speciality Hospital, Bilaspur.
This partnership will strengthen tertiary care in Chhattisgarh by integrating telemedicine services, increasing collaborative research, and expanding training for physicians and nurses.
The agreement outlines a systematic plan for ongoing clinical training for physicians, nurses, and paramedical personnel, faculty exchange programs, joint research initiatives, telemedicine integration, advanced technology deployment, and multicentric clinical studies.
Calling the agreement a breakthrough, Dr Bhanu Pratap Singh said, “This is a historic day for our hospital. With the signing of this MoU with AIIMS Raipur, our doctors, nurses and paramedical staff will now receive continuous training in the latest technologies.”
He added “This will greatly benefit the people of Bilaspur and the surrounding region, as they will no longer need to travel to metros for top-tier healthcare.”
Reinforcing the role of AIIMS Raipur, Lt Gen (Retd) Ashok Jindal stated, “AIIMS Raipur will stand firmly with the Bilaspur Super-Specialty Hospital in the areas of training, faculty exchange, telemedicine, and multi-centric research. This collaboration will not only benefit both institutions but also help in advancing healthcare delivery in the region.”

Key Specifications of MoU
By embedding continuous training programmes, the Bilaspur hospital staff will gain direct access to cutting-edge practices and updated clinical protocols.
Faculty exchange will allow specialists from AIIMS Raipur to bring expertise into Bilaspur, while Bilaspur doctors and researchers will receive exposure to the academic and research ecosystem at AIIMS.
Telemedicine is another essential component of the collaboration. Through remote consultation platforms, AIIMS Raipur specialists will be able to guide complex cases at Bilaspur in real time. This will reduce patient referrals and strengthen local decision-making capacity.
AIIMS Raipur, established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), functions as a major referral centre for tertiary care, research and medical education in central India.
The KSSDSJJ Government Super-Specialty Hospital in Bilaspur has been developed as a key district-level hub for advanced treatment, catering to a wide catchment population.
The joint research and multi-centric clinical studies will broaden the scope of scientific evidence generated in the state.
The official release does not provide financial details, timelines or targets for staff training, but the MoU signals a direct government-backed strategy to decentralise super-specialty services.
The signing was attended by the top leadership of both institutions. From AIIMS Raipur, Executive Director and CEO Lt Gen (Retd) Ashok Jindal, Dean (Research) Dr Abhiruchi Galhotra, Associate Dean (Research) Dr Ekta Khandelwal, and Additional Professor Dr Rakesh Gupta were present. Representing the Bilaspur hospital were Dr Bhanu Pratap Singh, Medical Superintendent, Dr Archana Singh, Professor, and Dr Abhishek Kumar, Associate Professor.
