Next Gen e-Hospital System Successful in Six Hospitals, Says Chhattisgarh Health Minister

The implementation is part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in the region.

The Next Gen e-Hospital system is reportedly running successfully in six district hospitals, two civil hospitals and 41 community health centers in Bastar division, according to Chhattisgarh Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal.

The system integrates OPD registration, consultation, diagnostics, medicine distribution and all patient-related medical information onto a single digital platform. As per reports, this has improved transparency, efficiency and patient satisfaction.

The implementation is part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in the region.

Under the Digital Mission, Health Facility Registration for hospitals and Health Professional Registration for doctors and nursing staff have been completed. ABHA kiosks have been set up in hospital premises, enabling patients to create their Ayushman Bharat Health Account.

The “Scan & Share” feature and ABHA ID-based online OPD registration are reportedly reducing waiting times.

Officials said the system provides patients with digital health records that can be accessed anywhere in the country, improving continuity and quality of treatment.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said, “Digital registration, health records and transparent service delivery have ensured timely, accessible and quality treatment for patients. This initiative is not just a model for Bastar but for the entire state. We will soon implement it across all districts to realize the vision of a ‘Healthy and Empowered Chhattisgarh’.”

Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal said, “The state government aims to implement this system robustly in all districts to take decisive steps towards building a ‘Healthy and Empowered Chhattisgarh.''

As per reports, the initiative aims to connect rural and remote areas with quality medical facilities.

What Is Next Gen e-Hospital

The Digital India initiative, a flagship program of the Government of India, aims to create a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. In healthcare, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) is driving e-Governance through applications such as the Nextgen e-Hospital, e-Blood Bank and ORS, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Hosted on NIC’s Cloud MeghRaj at the National Data Centre, the Nextgen e-Hospital application follows global healthcare standards, enabling interoperability and data exchange among providers.

It includes modules for OPD, IPD, billing and laboratory services. Integration with e-BloodBank and ORS offers citizens convenient access to healthcare services and supports efficient healthcare management.
