AIIMS Patna, C-DAC Join Hands to Boost AI-Powered Healthcare & Cybersecurity

A key outcome of the MoU is the proposed Artificial Intelligence Special Purpose Hub (AI-SPH), to be developed in collaboration with C-DAC Mohali and Noida, to function as a regional CoE.

AIIMS Patna has signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing to deploy AI-Powered Healthcare systems and reinforce Cybersecurity infrastructure.

This strategic partnership has been formalised to integrate artificial intelligence across clinical services, hospital management and data protection systems. The agreement signals a coordinated push toward technology-driven patient care in Bihar and neighbouring Jharkhand.

Under the agreement, AI-enabled clinical decision support systems will assist doctors in interpreting laboratory reports, radiological images and patient data more efficiently.

Deep learning-based imaging analytics are expected to support early detection of critical conditions, including cancer and trauma-related complications.

Predictive health analytics will identify high-risk patients, enabling preventive interventions and improved disease management.

The partnership also addresses hospital operations. Smart digital platforms are planned to streamline patient registration, appointment scheduling and workflow coordination, reducing delays and improving service delivery.

At the same time, strengthened Cybersecurity frameworks will protect sensitive medical records and ensure data integrity amid increasing digitalisation.

A key outcome of the MoU is the proposed Artificial Intelligence Special Purpose Hub (AI-SPH), to be developed in collaboration with C-DAC Mohali and Noida. The hub will function as a regional Centre of Excellence focused on AI research, capacity building and interdisciplinary collaboration.

It will train healthcare professionals in AI applications, support region-specific research on communicable diseases, maternal and child health, trauma care and non-communicable diseases, and serve as a nodal centre for medical colleges across Bihar and Jharkhand.

Prof. (Brig.) Dr Raju Agarwal, Executive Director, AIIMS Patna, described the collaboration as “a transformative milestone in advancing AI-enabled healthcare and secure digital infrastructure.” He stated that the initiative would significantly enhance patient care, promote research-driven innovation and strengthen technological capabilities in eastern India.

By combining clinical expertise with advanced computing capabilities, AIIMS Patna and C-DAC aim to create a resilient, intelligent and secure healthcare ecosystem. The initiative is expected to benefit millions by improving diagnostic accuracy, preventive care and digital trust in the region’s public health systems.

The MoU was signed in the presence of S. Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, and Sudeep Shrivastava, Joint Secretary, MeitY, highlighting the national significance of the initiative. Representatives from both institutions participated in the formal exchange.
