TAVI technology provides a minimally invasive solution enabling faster recovery, shorter hospital stays, and improved patient care.

Zydus MedTech has announced a collaboration with Braile Biomedica, a Brazilian-based manufacturer of cardiovascular devices.

As part of this partnership, Zydus will have exclusive rights to commercialize Braile's Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) technology across Europe, India, and other selected markets.

Patricia Braile, CEO of Braile Biomedica, stated, "This partnership with Zydus MedTech powerfully reinforces Braile's mission to care for people and help save lives. Seeing our TAVI technology—the result of decades of dedication to cardiovascular innovation—reach new continents is the fulfillment of a purpose that has driven us for nearly fifty years. By joining forces with a partner that shares our values and commitment, we expand our global impact and bring hope and quality of life to even more patients around the world."

The partnership aims to accelerate the global adoption of this life-saving therapy by combining Zydus MedTech’s regulatory and commercial strengths with Braile Biomedica’s technological expertise.

The global market for TAVI, valued at over USD 6 billion, continues to grow strongly, driven by the rising prevalence of aortic stenosis and increasing demand for minimally invasive cardiac procedures.

Dr Sharvil Patel, MD of Zydus Lifesciences, said, "We stand united with Braile to improve patient outcomes and expand access to advanced, critical cardiovascular care globally."

According to Patel, this technology provides a minimally invasive solution that enables faster recovery, shorter hospital stays, and improved quality of life for patients.

Zydus MedTech is a wholly owned subsidiary of Zydus Lifesciences Limited, specializing in medical technology development.

The TAVI procedure is recognized as a groundbreaking advancement in structural heart care, especially for elderly or high-risk surgical patients.

By replacing diseased aortic valves through a catheter-based approach instead of open-heart surgery, this method offers shorter recovery periods and minimized procedural risks.

The expansion of TAVI indications to all-risk patients has further accelerated its adoption.

Developed based on the doctoral thesis of Dr Domingo Braile, a leading cardiac surgeon in Brazil, the system features a unique bovine pericardium sheet, crafted as a single piece instead of three separate leaflets, ensuring superior biocompatibility, durability, and performance.

The device remains collapsible, navigates complex vascular anatomy, and functions seamlessly upon deployment.

Over the next three years, both companies plan to launch multiple innovations, supported by an extensive clinical research program starting next year in key target markets.

In March 2025, Zydus Lifesciences announced plans to acquire an 85.6% stake in French medical devices manufacturer Amplitude Surgical for €256.8 million to bolster Zydus's presence in the global medical devices market.
