The US envoy further called for an environment that enables companies from both countries to access each other's markets more freely.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor has held discussions with leading American MedTech companies to explore expanded opportunities in India's healthcare sector, highlighting market access and increased exports as key to strengthening India-US health and medical technology ties.

Sharing details of the interaction on X, Gor described the meeting as productive, saying the discussions focused on unlocking greater opportunities for American medical technology companies in India.

Gor has also emphasised the need for reciprocal market access as the two countries continue discussions on strengthening their trade relationship.

The US envoy further called for an environment that enables companies from both countries to access each other's markets more freely.

"As our governments work through the details of our trade relationship, we should aim to create an environment where American suppliers and technology can freely access the market and be sold to Indian manufacturers, while Indian firms can compete fairly in the US market," he said.

Gor also highlighted the scale of Indian investment in the United States, stating that the US Embassy in India had attracted $24 Bn in new investment into the country.

Meanwhile, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India will finalise and announce details of a Bilateral Trade Agreement with the United States after preferential tariff terms are agreed upon.

Increased engagement between American MedTech companies and Indian healthcare stakeholders could support collaborations in areas such as medical devices, manufacturing, research, and technology deployment.

The latest engagement signals continued interest in expanding commercial and technology cooperation, with US envoy Sergio Gor positioning MedTech companies and greater market access as part of the evolving India-US health ties between the two countries.
