Through Aadhaar-linked mobile authentication and ABHA integration, the system is designed to create a more connected patient record while reducing the administrative burden of repeated registrations.

Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) has implemented a one-time patient registration system through HMIS 3.0, aimed at reducing duplicate registrations and streamlining outpatient access.

The system generates a lifetime Unique Patient ID, allowing patients to access treatment at government medical facilities without repeatedly creating separate OP records.

Through Aadhaar-linked mobile authentication and ABHA integration, the system is designed to create a more connected patient record while reducing the administrative burden of repeated registrations.

Doctors can also access relevant medical reports through the patient's ABHA number, provided the details have been linked during the registration process.

To ensure that the transition does not create delays for patients, CMCH has established six dedicated OP registration counters to support Aadhaar-and ABHA-linked registration, including OTP-based authentication.

Alternative registration support has also been arranged for patients who are unable to receive OTPs, with biometric and fingerprint authentication options available using documents such as ration cards.

The hospital has additionally deployed ten nursing students to assist patients with the registration process. Patients can also generate their OP registration independently through the eNalam mobile application.

Two separate counters have been set up to print OP tickets generated through the application.

"The OP ticket can be generated on the patient's mobile phone in around two minutes, followed by printing in around one additional minute, enabling the patient to proceed to the concerned outpatient department," said an official.

Hospital officials are monitoring the registration workflow daily to identify operational issues and improve patient movement to the appropriate outpatient departments.

CMCH also plans to install placards across the campus to improve public awareness of the one-time patient registration system.
