Tripura Showcases Digital Healthcare Model at National ABDM, AB-PMJAY Review Meeting
Gitte also announced that all government hospitals in Tripura would transition to fully paperless operations from November 10, 2026.
Tripura has received national recognition for its efforts to modernise public healthcare and expand digital health services, with the state showcasing its hospital digitisation model at a national review meeting in Kolkata.
Its initiatives include a common digital platform for government hospitals and plans to establish paperless healthcare operations across the state.
The National Health Authority (NHA) organised the two-day National Review Meeting on Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) on November 5 and 6, 2026.
The meeting brought together senior health officials from states and Union Territories to review implementation progress and discuss approaches to strengthening healthcare delivery through digital systems.
During the meeting, Tripura Health and Family Welfare Secretary Kiran Gitte presented the state's experience in implementing digital healthcare services and developing model civil hospitals.

As per reports, Tripura has achieved 100% coverage of its public healthcare institutions under the Integrated Health Management Information System (IHMIS), which brings government hospitals onto a common digital platform.
The state now aims to integrate private healthcare institutions into the system within the next two months, with the broader objective of making healthcare services fully digital and paperless.
Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Agartala Civil Hospital was highlighted as an example of this transition. The facility has operated as a paperless hospital since its inception, enabling patients to access services digitally, including outpatient department (OPD) registration, token generation, admissions, prescriptions, medicine dispensing, and laboratory testing.
Gitte also announced that all government hospitals in Tripura would transition to fully paperless operations from November 10, 2026.
The meeting also featured a discussion on the Model Digital Health Facility Framework. NHA Director Dr Pankaj Arora discussed the framework's approach to integrating digital systems across patient care, while Gitte and Dr G. Sharath Nayak, CEO of Ayushman Bharat in Tripura and State Mission Director of ABDM, shared the state's implementation experience and progress.
Senior officials attending the meeting included Sharad Kumar Dwivedi, CEO of the State Health Agency and Secretary of West Bengal's Health and Family Welfare Department, and Kiran Gopal Bhaskar, Joint Secretary of the NHA.
To facilitate a firsthand assessment of its digital health initiatives, the NHA CEO and Tripura's Health Secretary invited participants to visit the state.
