Muzaffarpur ranks second with 39,83,403 records, while Saran occupies third place with 35,05,408 records.

Patna has recorded the highest number of digital health records linked under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) among districts in Bihar, with 1.13 crore records linked so far, according to recently reported district-wise data.

Under ABDM, health records such as prescriptions, diagnostic reports, and treatment documents can be linked to an individual's ABHA account.

With the patient's consent and appropriate authorisation, healthcare professionals can access available medical information across ABDM-enabled healthcare facilities.

The initiative aims to improve continuity of care by enabling authorised healthcare professionals to access patients' medical histories and diagnostic records digitally, with their consent.

The digital health record linking initiative is being implemented across all 38 districts of Bihar.

According to the latest district-wise figures, a total of 1,13,31,390 health records have been linked in Patna. Muzaffarpur ranks second with 39,83,403 records, while Saran occupies third place with 35,05,408 records.

Further, several other districts have also made progress in connecting medical records to the digital system.

East Champaran, Madhubani, Gaya, Samastipur and Vaishali have each recorded more than 31 lakh linked health records, according to the reported figures.

Darbhanga, Begusarai and Gopalganj have also registered progress under the initiative.

Meanwhile, Siwan, Sitamarhi and Nalanda have each crossed the 25-lakh mark. The digital record-linking exercise is continuing in the remaining districts as part of the statewide campaign.

At the national level, the National Health Authority (NHA) has introduced developments aimed at expanding citizen access to ABDM services and digital health records.

In June 2026, Union Health Minister JP Nadda launched Aarogya Setu 2.0, repositioning the application as a citizen-facing digital health platform and personal health record application.

The app enables users to create and manage ABHA IDs, access health records, upload medical documents, use Scan & Share for hospital registration, and manage family health profiles.

In a subsequent development, the NHA announced that the standalone ABHA App would be discontinued in the production environment from October 31, 2026, with Aarogya Setu 2.0 positioned as the primary application for accessing ABHA-related services and digital health records.

As of September 2026, more than 119.95 crore health records had been linked, and more than 97.61 crore ABHA IDs were operational.
