Siemens Healthineers Begins Diagnostics Business Carve-Out, Plans Rebrand as Olyrian Diagnostics

The carve-out is intended to establish the diagnostics division as a standalone business ahead of its planned separation from the parent company.

German medical technology company Siemens Healthineers has begun the carve-out of its diagnostics business, which it plans to rebrand as Olyrian Diagnostics ahead of a potential divestment. The company said on November 5, 2026, that it expects to complete the separation by mid-2028.

The diagnostics business will remain part of Siemens Healthineers during the transition period. The company had previously indicated that the separation could take approximately two years and that the unit might cease to be part of the group by 2030.

Olyrian Diagnostics conducts more than 16 billion diagnostic tests annually and represents approximately 20% of Siemens Healthineers' workforce. The business contributes around 17% of the group's total revenue.

The carve-out is intended to establish the diagnostics division as a standalone business ahead of its planned separation from the parent company. Siemens Healthineers said the new name and brand would help position the unit independently during the transition.

The company also plans to rename itself "Healthineers" as part of the broader corporate changes.

The separation process will involve establishing the diagnostics business as a distinct entity while it continues to operate within the Siemens Healthineers group until the transition is complete. Further details regarding the eventual divestment have not been announced.

The planned separation comes as Siemens Healthineers restructures its business portfolio, with diagnostics accounting for a substantial share of its testing operations, workforce and revenue.
