Stryker Expands Presence in Bengaluru with New R&D Facility
The new site complements Stryker’s existing R&D campus in Gurugram and will focus on advanced technology domains, including robotics, artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and product security.
Stryker, one of the world’s leading medical technology companies, has expanded its research and development footprint in India with the launch of a new facility in Bengaluru.
The 140,000 sq ft centre, located in Whitefield, was inaugurated mid mid-September and is designed to strengthen the company’s global innovation capabilities.
The new site complements Stryker’s existing R&D campus in Gurugram and will focus on advanced technology domains, including robotics, artificial intelligence, digital innovation, and product security.
According to the company, the Bengaluru centre is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, cross-functional workspaces, and a medical-experience centre that allows clinicians and partners to engage with its product portfolio.
“We are proud to expand our R&D presence in India with this new facility in Bengaluru,” said Vasant Mathew, Vice President and General Manager, Stryker India R&D. “Our team in India plays an important role in developing products and solutions that serve patients around the world. This expansion underscores our commitment to advancing healthcare through innovation.”
The medical-experience centre within the new facility showcases Stryker’s products across critical care and emergency medical services.
These include ICU beds, stretchers, ambulance cots, and automated external defibrillators, among other technologies designed to improve patient outcomes and hospital efficiency.
With this move, Stryker is deepening its roots in India’s growing medtech innovation ecosystem. Bengaluru, home to one of Asia’s largest technology talent pools, provides access to advanced skills in software engineering, AI, and product design.
The company said the site would enable greater collaboration across disciplines, helping accelerate the development of next-generation solutions.
Stryker has steadily expanded its India R&D operations since setting up the Stryker Global Technology Centre (SGTC) in Gurugram. The SGTC, which spans around 220,000 sq ft, is one of the company’s largest innovation hubs outside the United States and plays a critical role in global product development.
The new Bengaluru facility adds scale and specialized capability to that existing base.
Kevin Lobo, Chairman and CEO of Stryker, highlighted India’s strategic importance in the company’s innovation roadmap. “India is home to incredible talent and plays a vital role in advancing our mission to make healthcare better,” he said in the release.
He added, “The new R&D facility in Bengaluru strengthens our ability to innovate for customers globally while building on the strong foundation we have established in Gurugram.”
Stryker has not disclosed specific hiring numbers for the new site, but the company’s India R&D operations have historically grown in tandem with infrastructure expansions.
Industry observers expect the Bengaluru facility to drive additional recruitment in engineering, product design, software, and cybersecurity.
