Sanofi India, NHM MP Join Hands to Expand NCD & Rare Disease Services
As part of the programme, Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) are being deployed in the districts of Singrauli, Balaghat, and Anuppur. Services include teleconsultation facilities that enable patients to connect with qualified doctors.
Sanofi India has entered into an agreement with the National Health Mission, Madhya Pradesh, to strengthen disease management within the public healthcare system.
The initiative focuses on improving awareness and screening for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and rare diseases, while expanding healthcare access in underserved regions through mobile medical infrastructure.
As part of the programme, Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) are being deployed in the districts of Singrauli, Balaghat, and Anuppur. These units are designed to deliver primary healthcare services directly to remote populations.
Services include free screening and treatment for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and oral cancer, along with teleconsultation facilities that enable patients to connect with qualified doctors.
The initiative places emphasis on improving early detection and awareness of NCDs, particularly diabetes, which requires continuous monitoring and long-term care. In parallel, it incorporates mechanisms for identifying rare diseases, which involve more complex diagnostic pathways and require coordinated referral systems and treatment access.
Mobile medical units are central to this approach, as they extend diagnostic and basic treatment services to areas with limited or no access to conventional healthcare facilities. By integrating screening, consultation, and referral services, these units aim to reduce delays in diagnosis and improve continuity of care.
Screening for rare diseases at the community level introduces additional operational complexity compared to standard NCD programmes. It requires multi-level coordination involving primary screening, confirmatory diagnostics, specialist referrals, and access to appropriate treatment. These factors are expected to influence both the implementation and evaluation of the programme over time.
The agreement was formalised by Dr. Saloni Sidana, Mission Director of NHM Madhya Pradesh, and Deepak Arora, Managing Director of Sanofi India Limited.
