Bihar Gov Inks MoU with Takht Patna Sahib to Set Up New Imaging Center

The Patna centre is part of the broader Char Sahibzade MRI and CT Scan Centre initiative, which focuses on making diagnostic imaging more accessible.

A new MRI and CT scan centre is planned near Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib in Bihar, following an agreement between the state government and the Takht Patna Sahib management committee.

The proposed Char Sahibzade MRI and CT Scan Centre will be established near Mangal Talab in Patna. The project is intended to serve devotees visiting the historic Sikh shrine, along with residents of Patna and neighbouring areas who require MRI and CT scans.

The Bihar government and the Takht Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib management committee signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish and operate the centre. Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar signed the agreement on behalf of the state government.

The initiative was proposed by Mumbai-based Sardar Gurvinder Singh Bawa, president of Chief Khalsa Diwan Maharashtra.

The management committee had previously approached the governor for land to develop the facility. Land near Mangal Talab was subsequently made available, and the foundation stone for the centre was laid.

“Today, one of the biggest problems for people is medical expenses. MRI rates are soaring in private hospitals, but we are finding a way for poor and middle-class families,” said Gurvindar Singh, vice-president of the Takht Patna Sahib management committee.

The Patna centre is part of the broader Char Sahibzade MRI and CT Scan Centre initiative, which focuses on making diagnostic imaging more accessible.

The initiative has an existing presence in Matunga, Mumbai, and Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra.

In January 2025, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) inaugurated a Char Sahibzade MRI and CT Scan Centre at Guru Nanak Khalsa College in Matunga, Mumbai.

The facility was announced as providing MRI, CT scan, and X-ray services to economically weaker sections for INR 10, including discounted medicines and blood tests.

The upcoming Patna facility’s operational timeline, scanning charges, equipment specifications, and service availability have not yet been detailed in the announcement.
