Mirae's AI Chronic Care Platform uses conversational AI to collect information from patients in natural language, transforming it into structured longitudinal health records.

Oxford University spinout Mirae has secured $5.4 Mn in funding to expand its AI Chronic Care Platform, designed to improve the management of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

The investment, led by Oxford Science Enterprises (OSE), will support the startup’s commercial growth, ongoing product development, and clinical deployment with healthcare providers.

"Where you live should not dictate the quality of care you receive. A lot of the variability in care and outcomes comes from the fact that clinicians are working without a full view of what has happened between visits," stated Anuj Patel, Co-founder and CEO of Mirae.

"When you combine experiential data with clinical data, you begin to understand and model disease more effectively and have a path towards true precision medicine."

Mirae has emerged from research conducted at the University of Oxford's Computational Health Informatics Lab, where disease progression modelling has been a key area of focus.

The startup was co-founded by Professor David Clifton and Chief Executive Officer Anuj Patel to address one of chronic disease management's persistent challenges: the gap between routine clinical appointments.

The startup is initially focusing on inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, conditions that often require continuous monitoring because symptoms and treatment responses can change rapidly over time.

Mirae's AI Chronic Care Platform uses conversational AI to collect information from patients about symptoms, medication changes, daily habits, and treatment experiences in natural language.

The platform follows up with relevant questions, transforming these conversations into structured longitudinal health records.

These patient-generated data are then combined with clinical records and evidence-based disease models to provide specialists with a more complete view of disease progression.

The platform also generates AI-powered summaries before appointments, enabling clinicians to review months of patient experiences in a concise format rather than relying solely on patient recall during consultations.

Mirae is currently working with a leading U.S. health system, where the platform is being used to collect real-world patient data, validate clinical models, and integrate AI-generated insights into routine care workflows.

The funding round, led by Oxford Science Enterprises with participation from other investors, will enable Mirae to expand commercial adoption and further develop its AI capabilities for speciality care.
