Counsel Health Expands AI Care Model to Include Lifestyle and Chronic Conditions

The expansion builds on Counsel Health’s existing chat-based care model, where users interact with an AI-powered chatbot for medical guidance.

Counsel Health has announced an expansion of its artificial intelligence-enabled virtual care model to include services for lifestyle and chronic conditions, marking a broader push into continuous, condition-based care delivery.

The company said the rollout will begin with lifestyle-related conditions such as hair loss and sexual health, with plans to extend into chronic disease management later in 2026. Future offerings are expected to include care pathways for conditions such as high cholesterol and obesity.

The expansion builds on Counsel Health’s existing chat-based care model, where users interact with an AI-powered chatbot for medical guidance. If the system recommends further evaluation, users can schedule a consultation with a physician for a fee of $29. Members enrolled in the company’s annual “Counsel Signature” plan will be able to access the expanded services without additional charges.

The company is positioning the move as part of its effort to lower the cost of care and improve access by shifting more interactions to digital, on-demand formats. Counsel Health had earlier made its AI chatbot available for free to consumers in October, alongside a $25 million Series A funding announcement.

The expansion comes amid rising demand for chronic care management. According to data from the CDC, about 75% of adults in the U.S. have at least one chronic condition, while more than half live with two or more. A March 2026 analysis by Vizient found that 11% of the U.S. population with multiple chronic conditions accounted for 52% of inpatient admission claims in 2025, with a majority covered under Medicare and Medicaid.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rishi Khakhkhar said the updated model is designed to support ongoing patient engagement through continuous access to care. He noted that patients can receive medical input at any time and connect with physicians when needed, enabling a more consistent care experience compared to traditional models.

Counsel Health’s expanded offering reflects a growing shift toward integrating AI into longitudinal care, particularly in managing high-volume, chronic conditions through virtual platforms.
