Narayana Health Acquires UK’s Practice Plus Group Hospitals in INR 2,200 Cr Deal
With this acquisition, Narayana Health is expected to get control of seven hospitals, three surgical centres, two urgent treatment units, and several diagnostic and ophthalmology centres with a total capacity of 330 beds.
Narayana Hrudayalaya Ltd, the parent company of the Narayana Health network, has announced the acquisition of UK-based Practice Plus Group Hospitals in a deal valued at around Rs 2,200 crore (GBP 188.78 million).
The purchase is to be executed through an all-cash transaction involving the acquisition of 100 percent equity shares of Practice Plus Group Hospitals Ltd.
According to the company’s filing on the BSE, the transaction will be carried out by Narayana Hrudayalaya UK Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Health City Cayman Islands Ltd.
With this acquisition, Narayana Health is expected to get control of seven hospitals, three surgical centres, two urgent treatment units, and several diagnostic and ophthalmology centres with a total capacity of 330 beds.
Dr Devi Shetty said the acquisition aligns with the company’s mission to make private healthcare more accessible and affordable. “Like Narayana Health, Practice Plus Group recognised that the majority of patients were struggling to access healthcare, while only a minority could afford costly private healthcare. We have both been working to meet the demands of those in between, and to offer a new choice of more accessible private healthcare.”
Practice Plus Group CEO Jim Easton welcomed the acquisition, stating that Narayana Health’s reputation for quality and efficiency would enhance their network’s capabilities.
The deal marks Narayana Health’s entry into the UK healthcare market, placing it among India’s top three hospital chains by revenue. The integration is expected to help the company leverage its technology-driven healthcare model to improve efficiency, foster innovation, and create long-term value across its new international operations.
