MP Gov Medical Colleges to Receive INR 1000 Cr Medical Equipment

Government medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh have been set to receive medical equipment worth INR 1000 Cr, marking a significant step toward strengthening tertiary healthcare in the state.

The initiative focuses on high-priority sectors, including oncology, cardiac care, and organ transplants, aiming to expand advanced treatment options for patients and reduce reliance on private hospitals.

The move comes at a time when tertiary healthcare facilities in many government institutions have struggled with outdated infrastructure and limited specialist availability.

By supplying state-of-the-art medical equipment, the government seeks to bridge this gap, enabling hospitals to offer comprehensive cancer care, advanced cardiac interventions, and life-saving organ transplant procedures under one roof.

Super speciality services are planned for government medical colleges in Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Rewa, Jabalpur, and Sagar, each institution establishing new departments equipped with modern infrastructure, high-end diagnostic technology, and trained medical specialists.

MP Public Health Services Corporation (MPPHSCL) Managing Director Mayank Agrawal said, “Medical colleges will be able to purchase equipment. We only decide the rate of equipment. So, supply depends on priority and need of concerning medical colleges. Major sectors are oncology, cardio and organ transplant, in which this equipment will be supplied. The main focus is to ensure tertiary medical facilities in medical colleges.”

In cardiac care, the initiative will include the establishment of cardiothoracic units, vascular surgery facilities, angiography, and angioplasty services to strengthen cardiac treatment infrastructure.

In oncology, medical, surgical, and radiation departments will be developed to offer comprehensive cancer treatment in a coordinated manner. Organ transplant programs will also benefit from cutting-edge diagnostic tools and surgical equipment, expanding life-saving services across the state.

Experts suggest that, alongside equipment upgrades, training programs for clinicians and technicians will be crucial to fully realize the benefits of the new technology.

By combining modern medical equipment with skilled manpower, government medical colleges are expected to become hubs of advanced care in oncology, cardiology, and organ transplantation, providing citizens with timely and affordable treatment.
