MNNIT & GIMS Sign MoU to Advance Healthcare Innovation, Medical Research & Startup Ecosystem

The partnership intended to support the development of transformative healthcare solutions in areas such as medical devices, biotechnology, digital health, assistive technologies, and allied healthcare delivery systems.

The Centre for Medical Innovation (CMI), Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, has partnered with The Innovation and Incubation Hub MNNIT Foundation (IIHMF), the technology business incubator of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), to accelerate the development of technology-enabled healthcare solutions.

The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen healthcare innovation, medical research, and technology-driven entrepreneurship.

By combining clinical expertise, technological capabilities, and entrepreneurial support systems, the collaboration aims to build a collaborative pathway ecosystem for the development and deployment of healthcare innovations.

The partnership intended to support the development of transformative healthcare solutions in areas such as medical devices, biotechnology, digital health, assistive technologies, and allied healthcare delivery systems.

Commenting on the partnership, Rahul Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the CMI-GIMS Foundation, stated that the collaboration would create a comprehensive support ecosystem for healthcare startups. He noted that innovators would benefit from access to clinical expertise, validation facilities, incubation infrastructure, mentoring networks, and industry linkages, enabling them to transform promising ideas into scalable and socially relevant healthcare products and services.

Under the partnership agreement, both organisations will work together to facilitate clinical validation of healthcare innovations, translational and applied research, startup incubation and co-incubation programs, mentoring support, intellectual property development, commercialization of technologies, innovation competitions, entrepreneurship workshops, and capacity-building initiatives.

In addition, the partnership will support joint submissions for government grants, sponsored research projects, and innovation-focused schemes.

By leveraging the strengths of both institutions, the initiative is expected to create new opportunities for researchers, clinicians, innovators, students, and startups working to address emerging healthcare challenges while building an ecosystem for healthcare entrepreneurship and technology-driven innovation.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. (Brig.) Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Director, GIMS, highlighted the importance of fostering collaboration among clinicians, researchers, innovators, startups, and industry stakeholders. He noted that the partnership would strengthen translational research and facilitate the development and validation of innovative healthcare technologies for public benefit.

Reflecting similar thoughts, Dr. Ravi Prakash Tiwari, Director of IIHMF and head of the MNNIT Incubator, stated that the partnership is expected to create avenues for students, faculty members, researchers, and entrepreneurs to engage in technology development, commercialization activities, and research-led enterprise creation.

As per reports, the MoU shall remain effective for a period of five years and will facilitate long-term cooperation between the two institutions for the development of innovative healthcare technologies and allied solutions.
