GenHealth.ai Raises $16.5 Mn in Series A Funding to Expand Healthcare AI Agents

Its AI agents are designed to support administrative and revenue cycle tasks within healthcare organizations' existing EHR systems.

Boston-based healthcare AI startup GenHealth.ai has raised $16.5 million in Series A funding to expand the deployment of AI agents across administrative and revenue cycle workflows in healthcare provider organisations.

The funding round was led by Flare Capital Partners, with participation from existing investors Craft Ventures and Obvious Ventures, along with new investors including Eniac Ventures, InHealth Ventures, Epsilon Health Investors and ARTIS.

The startup said the latest round brings its total funding raised to $30 million.

Founded in 2023, GenHealth.ai’s agents provide AI automation tools for revenue cycle workflows and end-to-end administrative tasks across health plans and payers, care providers, and equipment suppliers.

Its technology is designed to support patient intake, eligibility verification, prior authorization, billing services, and claims management within existing electronic health records (EHRs) and payer systems.

According to the startup, its agents are built on its Large Medical Model, trained on the coded claims and clinical histories of more than 140 million patients.

The startup plans to deploy the funds to advance its AI models, extend its agents into additional workflows, and expand its workforce, including its engineering, operations, and go-to-market teams.

Sharing his thoughts, Ricky Sahu, CEO and co-founder of GenHealth.ai, said, "The problem with automating healthcare administration was never just the AI. It's that the AI is not connected to the systems providers already use, like the EHRs, plan portals, fax, and bank accounts," said At GenHealth, we built those connections ourselves and created rails for workflows to run on, with context from our own model trained on 140 million patients. The result is patients getting care faster and providers getting paid over 30% more, which is unheard of in RCM."

The latest investment follows GenHealth.ai's $13 million seed round in 2023, co-led by Craft Ventures and Obvious Ventures.

The new capital infusion is expected to further support the company's efforts to broaden its healthcare automation capabilities and scale its operations.

Commenting on the latest development, Vic Lanio, partner at Flare Capital Partners, said in a statement said, "Provider organizations do not need another system of record. They need the work done. GenHealth is not just agentified SaaS. They have agents working alongside humans, in the providers' current systems, completing the work. That's why we led this round."
