MantraM Surgical Robot Yatra Brings Indigenous Robotic Surgery Experience to Dehradun

The Dehradun stop follows the formal flag-off of the MantraM “Made in India” Surgical Robot Yatra from Gurugram and earlier engagements across other states, where hundreds of doctors have already participated.

The MantraM Surgical Robot Yatra has arrived in Dehradun as part of SS Innovations’ ongoing nationwide initiative to expand access to advanced surgical robot technologies.

Hosted at Mahant Shri Indiresh Hospital Medical College, the visit has engaged more than 50 doctors, surgeons, and healthcare professionals, offering direct interaction with the Mantra 3.0 Surgical Robotic Platform and its mobile simulation setup.

Robotic surgery has steadily grown in India over the past decade, but access has largely remained concentrated in major metropolitan hospitals due to cost, infrastructure needs, and training barriers.

Speaking of the initiative, Dr Utkarsh Sharma, Principal, Mahant Shri Indiresh Hospital Medical College, Dehradun, said, “This initiative highlights India’s growing leadership in medical innovation and is a game-changer in the field of surgical technology. The MantraM unit offers our faculty and students an invaluable opportunity to witness firsthand the future of surgery. More importantly, this milestone brings us closer to democratizing access to advanced surgical care, especially in regions where specialists are in short supply. This marks a new era in surgical care and reaffirms India’s position at the forefront of global medical innovation.”

SS Innovations, the Haryana-based developer of India’s first home-grown surgical robot system, has positioned the Mantra platform as a locally engineered alternative designed to address these constraints. The MantraM Yatra builds on this approach by physically taking surgical robot demonstrations and training to medical institutions outside Tier 1 cities.

During the Dehradun stop, participants took part in live demonstrations, guided simulations, and training sessions inside the MantraM Mobile Simulation Bus. The customised unit, built on a commercial bus platform, has been designed to provide a controlled and self-sufficient environment for showcasing robotic surgery. It includes climate control, backup power, connectivity systems, and structural modifications to protect sensitive surgical robot equipment during long-distance travel.

Dr Vishwa Srivastava, Chief Executive Officer, APAC SS Innovations International Inc, remarked, “Bringing the SSII MantraM Surgical Robot Yatra to Dehradun is a monumental step in transforming how we approach surgery in India. This initiative is about more than just technology; it’s about improving lives, making surgery safer and more precise and expanding access to life-saving treatments. The knowledge and training that this program imparts to doctors and medical students will create a ripple effect, inspiring the wider adoption of robotic surgery across medical institutions in Tier 2 & 3 cities of India. SSII’s commitment to making advanced surgical care accessible to all is truly commendable, and we are excited to be part of this revolutionary journey.”

SS Innovations has positioned the MantraM Yatra as India’s first initiative to deliver surgical robot training directly to hospitals and medical colleges through a mobile format.

The Dehradun stop follows the formal flag-off of the MantraM “Made in India” Surgical Robot Yatra from Gurugram and earlier engagements across other states such as Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Assam, and Gujarat, where hundreds of doctors have already participated.
