Mahajan Imaging & Labs has inaugurated North India’s first 128-slice digital PET-CT scanner, Omni Legend by GE HealthCare, alongside a new pathology lab at its Gurugram facility.

This upgrade strengthens the region’s capacity for early cancer detection through integrated diagnostics.

The new scanner features AI-based lesion identification, digital BGO (dBGO) detector technology, and 1.4 mm spatial resolution.

According to Mahajan Imaging, the scanner offers 60% lower radiation exposure, faster scans, and higher image clarity, which is crucial for pediatric and geriatric patients.

Integrated with a state-of-the-art pathology lab, the Gurugram center enables clinicians to conduct advanced imaging and laboratory diagnostics under one roof. This approach supports timely diagnosis and decision-making, especially in oncology cases.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Harsh Mahajan, Founder and Chairman of Mahajan Imaging & Labs, said, “The launch of our new 128-slice digital PET-CT scanner in Gurugram marks a major leap forward in delivering technology-driven cancer diagnostics. With AI-powered imaging and integrated pathology support, we are empowering clinicians with precision tools for early, accurate detection and better treatment outcomes.”

The facility includes streamlined workflows and AI-enhanced processes to reduce patient wait times and minimize motion artifacts during scans. Special protocols such as PSMA PET-CT and Gallium DOTANOC PET-CT are also available for specialised oncology assessments.

Commenting on the development, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, said, “The introduction of advanced digital PET-CT technology in North India marks more than a technological achievement—it is a beacon of hope for countless families. The Central Government recognizes the cancer burden and has taken serious measures to ensure access to cancer care by setting up 200 Day Care Cancer Centres in district hospitals this year, besides full Customs Duty exemption on 36 cancer, rare, and chronic diseases.”

Kabir Mahajan, COO of Mahajan Imaging, noted that the expansion addresses the growing demand for advanced oncology diagnostics in Delhi NCR.

He added that we will bring this 128-slice digital PET-CT with AI-enhanced workflows to Gurugram and offer all diagnostic tests under one roof. We also aim to support pharmaceutical companies in assessing cancer therapies such as CAR-T cell treatments.

According to ICMR, India reported 14.9 lakh new cancer cases in 2023, with a mortality-to-incidence ratio of 64.47%. Projections suggest cases may rise to 1.57 million by 2025.

Experts suggest expanding access to advanced screening tools can significantly improve early diagnosis and survival rates.
