Abbott Integrates Precision Oncology Tests Into Flatiron OncoEMR Platform
The integration allows clinicians to order Abbott’s oncology tests and access results directly within OncoEMR, eliminating the need to switch between multiple systems or manage separate portals.
Abbott has announced the integration of its precision oncology testing portfolio into Flatiron Health’s OncoEMR, a cloud-based electronic medical record (EMR) platform, to streamline cancer care workflows for oncology providers.
The integration allows clinicians to order Abbott’s oncology tests and access results directly within OncoEMR, eliminating the need to switch between multiple systems or manage separate portals. The move is designed to simplify clinical workflows and improve access to diagnostic information at the point of care.
Tests available through the integration include Oncotype DX Breast Recurrence Score, OncoExTra, Oncodetect, and Riskguard. Oncologists can place orders directly from a patient’s chart, while status updates and final results are automatically routed back into the system, centralizing patient data.
Flatiron Health’s OncoEMR platform is used across a network of more than 1,600 community cancer care centers and 4,700 providers in the United States. The integration targets these community settings, where a significant share of cancer care is delivered, enabling broader access to advanced genomic and oncological diagnostics.
The partnership aims to reduce administrative workload for clinicians by removing the need to navigate multiple software systems. By embedding testing capabilities within the existing workflow, providers can move more efficiently from test ordering to treatment planning.
Quincy Weatherspoon, Vice President and General Manager of Point of Care Solutions at Flatiron Health, said, “We’re focused on making it easier for clinicians to access the right information at the right moment of care. By integrating Abbott’s Precision Oncology portfolio directly into OncoEMR, we’re reducing friction in the workflow and helping providers move faster – from test ordering to treatment decisions.”
The integration is expected to support more streamlined, data-driven oncology care by improving the accessibility of diagnostic insights within routine clinical practice.
