Commure Launches AI-Powered Dictation Tool to Integrate Clinical Voice Across Workflows

The tool enables clinicians to draft referrals, messages, and clinical orders using voice commands, leveraging the company’s Ambient AI platform, which is already used by tens of thousands of clinicians.

Commure has launched Commure Dictation, a speech-to-cursor extension that integrates AI-powered voice capabilities into any text field or desktop application, expanding the use of clinical voice technology beyond traditional documentation.

The tool enables clinicians to draft referrals, messages, and clinical orders using voice commands, leveraging the company’s Ambient AI platform, which is already used by tens of thousands of clinicians. The extension is designed to function across more than 60 electronic health record (EHR) systems and other applications, allowing direct voice input without switching interfaces.

According to the company, the platform moves beyond conventional transcription by embedding voice interaction directly into clinical workflows. Clinicians can use spoken instructions to edit, restructure, and format text in real time, as well as automate template completion without navigating multiple fields.

The system also allows mobile devices to function as wireless microphones through the Ambient mobile application, while maintaining compatibility with existing hardware setups. Additional features include natural language voice commands for formatting and navigation, and an integrated AI assistant designed to provide clinical support within the dictation process.

Commure stated that the tool is built to address limitations of legacy dictation systems, which often rely on dedicated hardware, complex licensing models, and manual upgrades. The new platform also includes a migration feature that enables health systems to transfer existing macros and shortcuts.

The company is positioning the solution as part of a broader effort to connect clinical documentation with revenue cycle processes. Documentation captured through the platform can feed into coding, clinical documentation improvement (CDI), and other revenue cycle workflows through Commure’s revenue cycle management (RCM) data model.

Commure Dictation is currently available for enterprise deployment as well as individual providers, with additional support services aimed at simplifying system migration.
