KIMS Hospital Thane Brings VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution to the City, Expanding Precision in Joint Replacement Surgery
The hospital has stated that the technology is now fully operational and will support a range of orthopaedic and joint replacement procedures.
KIMS Hospital Thane has introduced the VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution, becoming the first hospital in the city to adopt the technology for joint replacement procedures.

The newly introduced VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution, developed by DePuy Synthes, the orthopaedics division of Johnson & Johnson MedTech, is designed to assist surgeons during total and partial knee replacement procedures.
The system provides real-time data, personalized surgical planning, and intraoperative measurements to support accurate implant positioning and bone preparation based on each patient's anatomy.
It is used together with the ATTUNE Knee System and does not require preoperative CT scans for surgical planning.
According to KIMS Hospital Thane, the robotic platform can contribute to greater surgical precision, smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, lower soft tissue disruption, and quicker rehabilitation, enabling patients to resume daily activities sooner.
Dr Sanjeev Jain, Chief of Orthopaedics & HOD of Joint Replacement, said, "Because the system translates our hand movements so accurately, we can minimize the impact on surrounding tissue. That careful approach is a key factor in helping our patients heal and get back on their feet sooner.
