The heart screening program will be rolled out statewide, to assess the heart health of every citizen, especially through preventive care.

The Karnataka government is set to launch a heart screening program next month to facilitate early diagnosis of cardiovascular disease.

The heart screening program will be rolled out statewide, to assess the heart health of every citizen, especially through preventive care.

Karnataka's Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao, during a recent event, emphasized the importance of the heart screening program.

"The government aims to identify potential health concerns early, allowing for timely interventions. This programme will involve door-to-door medication delivery, making healthcare more accessible to those in need," said Minister Rao.

The summit also highlighted the growing number of young individuals suffering from cardiovascular disease.

Dr Vivek Jawali, Chief Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeon at Fortis Hospitals, noted that lifestyle changes and India's rapid industrialisation have led to increased cases of cardiovascular disease.

"India's rapid industrialization, globalization, and aging population have created a perfect storm for cardiovascular disease. These, coupled with a sedentary lifestyle, contribute to higher incidence of obesity, diabetes, hypertension," Dr Jawali said.

The heart screening program aims to ensure preventive care is prioritized, helping detect cardiovascular disease early and reducing the overall burden on the healthcare system.

K’taka Govt’s Recent Healthcare Initiatives

Days back, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched 65 hi-tech ambulances to enhance emergency response for accident victims across the state.

These hi-tech ambulances, equipped with ventilators, will be deployed by the Health and Family Welfare Department in the coming days to facilitate timely medical assistance.

Earlier, Karnataka's Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dinesh Gundu Rao announced a new mass screening program aimed at monitoring the health of the entire state population.

The program focused on early detection of chronic conditions such as blood pressure and sugar levels, as well as cancers such as cervical and breast cancer.

"Our goal is to detect diseases at an early stage. It's easier to manage and treat conditions if they're identified early. Unfortunately, many people seek medical help only when it's too late," the Minister added.
