US-based Intuitive, a leader in minimally invasive care and robotic-assisted surgery (RAS), has inaugurated its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Bengaluru, India.
The new center will enhance Intuitive’s operational efficiency and innovation efforts and support its global operations.
The GCC will employ up to 250 full-time professionals across key areas such as IT support, enterprise analytics, software quality, human resource management, and post-market surveillance.
These functions are critical for maintaining the performance, safety, and reliability of Intuitive’s healthcare technologies, including its robotic-assisted surgery systems.
“This Global Capability Centre will play an important role in helping us advance minimally invasive healthcare technology and the ecosystem of services, support, and insight that ensure its successful use and adoption,” said Gary S Guthart, CEO of Intuitive, during the inauguration.
Further. the center will be a crucial part of Intuitive’s global infrastructure, contributing to various product lifecycle stages, including product upgrades, quality control, and customer service.
It aims to support the company’s mission of providing efficient healthcare solutions through innovation in robotic surgery.
Speaking at the event, Dr Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil emphasized the center’s role in advancing medical training in India.
“This Global Capability Centre will play a crucial role in training more doctors, a field where India has immense potential and already produces some of the finest medical professionals globally. We can expand these advancements to even the most remote areas with further collaboration, including public-private partnerships,” Dr Patil noted.
The center aligns with the government’s goal of modernizing healthcare education and expanding access to medical technologies across Karnataka, particularly in underserved areas.
It is expected to be a key contributor to improving the healthcare landscape in the region.
Additionally, Intuitive aims to leverage local talent to support its global operations and expand its reach in the Asia-Pacific region by positioning itself in Bengaluru, a major tech hub. The GCC is expected to drive the company’s goals of improving healthcare delivery and supporting adoption of robotic-assisted surgery technologies.
